There's a softer fourth one: note search. On Free, search_notes falls back to keyword (Postgres FTS) — still useful, but it won't find "the conversation about the broken aircon" unless your note literally says "broken aircon." Pro turns on embeddings and the hybrid ranker. No refusal — just a quieter capability difference.

A few honest answers.
What counts as a "user"?
A human with a login. AI clients (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT) connecting on behalf of that human are part of their seat — the seat travels with the person, not the device.
How long is Free actually free?
Forever, under the caps. There's no countdown. If 2 users and 6,000 records is your whole world, you'll never see a charge.
What happens if I hit the record cap on Free?
Reads keep working — your data stays fully accessible. The next upsert refuses with an upgrade link. Nothing's deleted, nothing's hidden.
What happens if I downgrade after using Pro?
Records over the cap go read-only (visible, not editable) until you prune them or re-upgrade. No silent data loss, no ransom.
Can I add a 3rd seat without upgrading?
No — adding a 3rd seat is the upgrade trigger.
Does my search just get worse on Free?
Yes, honestly. It falls back to Postgres full-text search — still useful for exact-phrase queries, just not magic. Pro turns on embeddings + semantic ranking.
Annual billing? Discount for paying yearly?
Monthly only at launch. Simpler for us, fewer surprises for you. If the demand is there, we'll revisit.
What currency?
Billing is in USD. We're based in Australia and Stripe settles in AUD, but the customer-facing price is USD everywhere.
